Pediatric Dental Services
It’s never too early to expose your children to the benefits of regular children’s dental services – especially since this will become an important regular, life-long habit. Our range of dental services for children is designed not only to expose them to the idea of visiting the dentist, but also to educate and promote dental hygiene habits that they can do at home.
Our team is professionally trained to deliver quality children’s dental services to the younger set and can easily establish rapport to build trust and ensure a smooth and happy dental cleaning session. We take great care to explain to children the importance of children’s dental hygiene practices and employ various means to help them better visualize these.
Children's Dental Services
Some important dental “must-knows” about dental services for children include:
- Avoiding sending your baby or child to bed with a bottle of milk, juice, or other beverages apart from water. The sugars in these beverages will damage sensitive and developing teeth and will lay the groundwork for dental cavities in their early years.
- Begin the practice of brushing once the first tooth pops up. With just the tiniest bit of toothpaste, parents can already begin a children’s dental hygiene routine by gently brushing using a baby brush that has rubber nodules or rubbing the area with a clean finger twice a day. As more teeth come in, your preferred dental tool may be swapped with a toothbrush with ultra-soft bristles.
- Bring your child in for their first children’s dental services when they are one year old. Your child’s first dental exam starts soon after their first birthday, and then every six months thereafter to closely monitor their teeth and overall dental health.
- Have dental sealants applied if the dentist recommends them. A dental sealant is a protective coating that is applied to the grooves and fissures of the teeth where it is difficult to brush and keep clean. Dental cavities that wreak havoc on young teeth may result in permanent black teeth, and this can be prevented or remedied with a bonded material which will close off the damaged areas and keep them from developing further damage. Sealants are a preventative measure that provide great protection for developing and adult (permanent teeth). Children get their permanent teeth coming in around age 6, this is a great time to assess if sealants are the best option.
At East Chestermere Dental, you can be assured that each trip will be a pleasant and fun experience that will leave your child’s teeth a whole lot cleaner. You will always find your child(ren) better educated about the importance of dental health!
