Sedation Dentistry in Chestermere

For many people, a visit to the dentist is the last thing that they would want to do – and thus keep putting it off.  Sometimes this is done to the point that the problem becomes worse and will require more work. If dental anxiety is what’s keeping you from getting the dental treatment that you need, you will certainly benefit from dental sedation.

Dental Anesthesia

Otherwise known as a more intensive form of dental anesthesia, dental sedation is a very effective and safe procedure that will quell much of your dental anxiety. This happens by eliminating the discomfort that is commonly associated with many dental procedures. During dental sedation, you will sleep instead of stay awake throughout the entire experience. Some patients find that dental anesthesia isn’t enough to make them feel comfortable about any dental process they undergo – usually because their imagination runs wild as they try to figure out what is happening in their mouth! There are many types of dental sedation and our Chestermere dentists can advise you of the best options to suit your individual needs.

How will you know if you actually require dental sedation or suffer from dental anxiety? Here are some markers that you might already have at the mere thought of having to make a dental appointment:

  • Fear and anxiety at the idea of visiting your dentist
  • Having highly sensitive teeth, coupled with a low pain threshold
  • Being a candidate for extensive or complicated treatment
  • A special needs patient or an anxious child, whom one can expect little cooperation from what is usually just a regular dental procedure

If you find yourself affirming any or all of these markers, you might find that dental sedation is the answer to your dental anxiety. Again, there’s no reason to put off your dental appointment just because you are not feeling too excited about it. The more you delay things, the greater the damage to your teeth will be!

  • When we speak with you regarding your appointment, we will be asking you additional screening questions. Patients who exhibit any symptoms will need to postpone their treatment.
  • When you arrive to your appointment, please wait in your car until your appointment time and bring as little as possible into the office with you.
  • If you have a mask or face covering, we encourage you to wear one to your appointment.
  • We will ask that you sanitize/wash your hands with soap and water upon entering the office and before leaving.
  • There will be a consent form for patients to sign upon arrival and we want you to know that the guidelines in place currently have staff member signing off on a daily consent that ensures they are ready and prepared to provide treatment in the safest possible way.

We want to assure everyone that our office takes the safety and health of our patients, their families, team members and doctors very seriously.
